To all that have registered for the Referee Class to be held on March 21st, please read this notice!
I received the following message from the State Referee Committee concerning any upcoming scheduled referee training activities
As we are in unprecedented circumstances with the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, we have to make decisions that protect everyone as much as possible. With that in mind, the State Referee Committee is suspending all referee meetings, classroom education (certification and recertification), field training, and other activities effective immediately through April 18, 2020. If this activity suspension is prolonged, we are looking at developing an online classroom session to meet the recertification-only requirement. There is no substitute for actual face-to-face instruction and we must have that for new referees. We hope this disruption will not last long. We will revisit this issue prior to April 18, 2020 and update you at that time. Our members' health and well-being are our first concerns. The Virginia Youth Soccer Association and Metropolitan DC-Virginia Amateur Soccer Association will likely be affected as well. If leagues do have matches, certified referees have the choice to officiate or not. As a team that loves soccer, the SRC is unhappy with the impact this is having on the Beautiful Game here and across the world. However, we realize health is more important and these are appropriate actions. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the pitch. We hope it is soon.
Guidance for re-scheduling clinics and/or transfer to other classes will be forthcoming.
