FCSC is a member of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) as well as the Metropolitan D.C.-Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA) which govern the club’s youth and adult programs, respectively. In turn, FCSC is affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) by virtue of the VYSA’s association with United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and MDCVSA’s alignment with the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
Order of Precedence
In the event of a conflict between the policies of the USSF, the USYSA and VYSA for youth programs, as well as USASA and MDCVSA for adult programs, the order of precedence will be as follows:
- Youth Programs
- Adult Programs
In the event of a conflict between the FCSC policies defined herein, and those of the associations identified above, the more conservative of the policies shall take precedence.
Program Year & Seasons
The program year begins on 1-Aug and concludes on 31-Jul of the following calendar year.
The program year consists of one Fall, one Winter, one Spring, and one Summer season.
The Fall season begins in August, with match play nominally starting in August or September.
The Winter season begins in December, with match play nominally starting in December or January.
The Spring season begins in March, with match play nominally starting in March or April.
The Summer season begins in June, with match play nominally starting in June
Year of Play & Age Group
FCSC determines year of play based on an individual’s date of birth as well as the program year in accordance with the club’s governing association guidelines.
FCSC may group multiple years of play into a single age group in support of a recreational program.
FCSC will publish the relationship between date of birth, year of play, and age group by program to the club’s website in advance of each program year.
Individuals who do not meet a program’s minimum or maximum age requirement may not participate in that program for that program year.
Individuals may not participate in a younger age group (i.e., “playing down”).
Individuals may participate in an older age group (i.e., “playing up”). An individual must submit a request to participate in an older age group to the Director of Recreational Coaching. The Director of Recreational Coaching, the chair of the Committee on Recreational Programs, as well as the affected program age group Coordinators will respond to the request.
FCSC maintains two registration periods per season, one early registration period and one late registration period.
The early registration period deadline for the Fall season is nominally 15-Jul. The late registration period deadline for the Fall season is nominally the day prior to the start of match play.
The early registration period deadline for the Winter season is nominally 15-Nov. The late registration period deadline for the Winter season is nominally the day prior to the start of match play.
The early registration period deadline for the Spring season is nominally 15-Feb. The late registration period deadline for the Spring season is nominally the day prior to the start of match play.
The early registration period deadline for the Summer season is nominally 15-May. The late registration period deadline for the Summer season is nominally the day prior to the start of match play.
FCSC may establish special registration periods within a season for special programs.
FCSC maintains an early registration fee, per program, associated with the early registration period.
FCSC maintains a late registration fee, per program, associated with the late registration period.
Members manage player registration through their account, accessible via the FCSC website.
Members must complete player registration prior to that player participating in practices or match play.
Members may request a refund of program fees prior to the start of the season.
A refund request must be submitted in writing to the FCSC Administrator at the club’s official mailing address.
Any refund request received after the start of the season will not be processed.
Refunds issued prior to the start of the season will be assessed a refund processing fee.
Refunds will not be issued as a result of a player only participating in a partial season.
Refunds will not be issued as a result of one or more matches being canceled due to inclement weather.
Refunds will not be issued as a result of field conditions.
Individuals who are not registered with FCSC for the current program season may not participate in practices or match play. Such participation would be in direct violation of state regulations, the FCSC insurance policy, and will result in disciplinary action.
Assignment to Teams
An FCSC program Registrar, with the assistance of program age group Coordinators, will assign players to teams according to age, experience, and location of their residence. The following considerations will be honored, whenever possible, for players registered prior to the deadline:
- A player who is the child of a coach may be assigned to that coaches team.
- Players who are siblings may be assigned to the same team.
- Players with child care requirements that bear upon their availability for certain practice dates and times may be assigned to a team whose practice schedule resolves the conflict.
Players who have been registered during the late registration period will be assigned to a waiting list in order of payment date, and subsequently assigned to a team as roster positions become available.
A uniform kit is recommended, but not required.
The FCSC uniform kit consists of:
- A black jersey (including the FCSC crest)
- A white jersey (including the FCSC crest)
- A pair of matching black shorts
- A pair of matching black soccer socks
- A pair of matching white soccer socks
All players must wear shinguards which provide a reasonable degree of protection during practice and match play.
All players must wear soccer socks which cover the shinguards during practice and match play.
Soccer shoes with cleats are suggested, but not required. Metal-cleated soccer shoes are not permitted.
Long sleeve shirts may be worn under the jersey. FCSC recommends, but does not require, a long sleeve shirt that is color-coordinated with the respective jersey.
Long pants may be worn under, or in lieu of shorts. FCSC recommends, but does not require, black pants.
A player, when registered, is immediately in good standing with the club.
A player may be placed in bad standing with the club if:
- The player’s account is past due
- The player exhibits poor attendance at scheduled practices
- The player exhibits poor attendance at scheduled matches
- The player exhibits inappropriate behavior, language, or conduct on or off the field of play
- The player’s family exhibits inappropriate behavior, language, or conduct as spectators during practice or match play.
Coaches will communicate potential and realized changes in standing with the player as well as the player’s parent or guardian.
Players in bad standing with the club will not be allowed to practice or play with their team on match day.
Match Scheduling & Field Assignment
The FCSC Administrator assigns match schedules and fields.
The match schedule and field assignment will be posted prior to the start of the season.
FCSC will not reschedule a match for the convenience of the coach. FCSC recommends that the coach request that the assistant coach, or a parent volunteer, coach the team in the event of a schedule conflict.
FCSC is responsible for notifying the membership of match cancellations.
FCSC will communication match cancellations through the club website.
Closure of field for which a match was scheduled implies match cancellation.
FCSC may schedule make-up matches.
FCSC uses many athletic fields throughout Fauquier County and within the Town of Warrenton. Most of these athletic fields are controlled, maintained, and issued by the Fauquier County Parks & Recreation Department, The Town of Warrenton, or their authorized agents. All of these fields are provided to the club as a service as a community. FCSC members are guests at these fields and are to treat the fields accordingly; the future allocation of fields by the Fauquier County Parks & Recreation Department, The Town of Warrenton, and their authorized agents depends upon it.
FCSC prohibits alcohol, drugs, and tobacco products on all fields in use by its members.
FCSC members are to park their vehicles in designated areas only.
Field status is routinely determined on a daily basis, and by exception in the event of inclement weather.
The status of a field is either “Open” or “Closed”.
Field status information is posted on the FCSC website.
FCSC will communicate field closures to the membership.
Field closures are communicated through:
- The FCSC website.
- Text messages to those who are enrolled in the field status text message alert system.
The coach of the home team of the first scheduled match of the day is responsible for field setup, including lining the field of play, attending to nets, setting up corner flags, and anchoring goals.
The coach of the home team of the last scheduled match of the day is responsible for field takedown, including storage of corner flags.
Sides & Ends
A field consists of two sides. A field side is adjacent to and parallel with the touch line, between the two goal lines.
