Championship Recap

The Fall 2011 season successfully came to a close for the Fauquier County Soccer Club's Adult League (FSL) on Saturday, November 12th with a newly crowned champion: Strikers FC. Coming off a dramatic penalty-shoot-out win against favored FC Arsenal, Strikers FC defeated El Agave Chivas 5 - 2 to raise the Fauquier Cup.

The game began with Strikers setting a quick pace. In under one minute of play, Bandon Lloyd of Strikers FC dribbled up the middle and ripped on the bottom corner, stunning the favored Chivas. Before Chivas could catch their rhythm and respond, Strikers star player Cesar Colon tucked his own goal into the net. Already lacking in strength from a red card suspension, Chivas suffered another setback midway through the first half when playmaker Sam Hernandez withdrew himself from the game with a quadriceps strain. Capitalizing on Chivas' struggling play, season latecomer Patrice Belewa scored and the half ended with Strikers comfortably in the lead 3-0.

Chivas mounted a comeback in the second half with long-time striker, Pedro "El Taliban" Reyes, putting two quick goals into the Stikers FC net to come within 1 goal of equalizing. However, Strikers FC man-of-the-match Colon put the game out of reach in the final 15 minutes with two more goals giving himself a hat trick and his team the championship.
