Just Six More Weeks...

So, looks like Punxsutawney Phil has predicted another 6 more weeks of winter but that doesn’t mean that soccer isn’t being played in Fauquier County !  I hope that everyone has had a chance to stop by In-Motion and see all the work that is being done at our local indoor facility.  The first winter session was a great success and the second session has started up and is in full swing.  Several teams are practicing and participating in the winter leagues and I’ve even seen some of our adults playing on Friday nights.

We have extended Spring Registration for a few more weeks.  I would like to highlight just a few changes to keep in mind when you are registering your children.  We have divided the U8’s into U7 and U8 age groups.  This change will help the children develop skills with players at their own level and help keep the games competitive.  We have decreased maximum roster size for many age groups in order to increase playing time for all the children.  Our U12 teams will be playing for the Suburban Friendship League which provides them greater playing opportunities.  These are all very positive changes but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Technical Director, Bill Lanza at blanza@fcsc.org.

For more information on Spring Registration or what is new with the Club, please plan to attend the February 11 Board Meeting.  We will be hosting the meeting at the Warrenton Community Center at 7 p.m. and will be holding on-site registration for any one that wants to stop by and register.

FCSC Announces Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance
Coaching certification an FCSC priority
As part of a targeted effort to provide the most positive experience for its athletes, FCSC as established a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). PCA, a Stanford University-based non-profit organization, works with coaches, organizational leaders and parents to more effectively teach young athletes not only how to win, but also how to learn about teamwork, discipline, respect and goal-setting through their sports experience.
